Root Canal Therapy
Comfortable root canal treatment that relieves pain and saves a damaged tooth.
Root canal therapy has an unfair reputation. In reality, it is the treatment that relieves the pain of an infected or badly decayed tooth — and it lets you keep your natural tooth instead of losing it. When infection reaches the soft tissue inside a tooth, a root canal removes that tissue, cleans and disinfects the space, and seals it.
With modern techniques and anaesthetic, a root canal today feels much like having a filling done, and we make sure you are fully numb and comfortable throughout. Afterward the tooth is usually restored with a crown to protect it for the long term — and you keep a tooth that would otherwise have been lost.
Frequently asked questions
Does a root canal hurt?
The procedure itself should not — the tooth and surrounding area are thoroughly numbed. What hurts is the infection beforehand; the root canal is what takes that pain away.
How much does a root canal cost in Toronto?
In Toronto, root canal therapy typically ranges from roughly $700 for a single-canal tooth to around $1,500 for a complex molar, plus the filling or crown afterward. The CDCP covers root canals for eligible patients.
Is a root canal better than pulling the tooth?
Almost always, yes. Keeping your natural tooth preserves your bite and bone and avoids the cost of replacing it later. We recommend extraction only if a tooth genuinely cannot be saved.
