Children's Dentistry
Gentle, friendly dental care that gives children a positive start — and keeps it that way.
A child's early experiences at the dentist shape how they feel about dental care for the rest of their life. We keep those visits calm, friendly, and unrushed — explaining things in words children understand and letting them set the pace. The goal is simple: a child who is not afraid to come back.
Beyond checkups and cleanings, children's dentistry includes fluoride treatments and sealants that protect new adult teeth from decay, along with guidance for parents on brushing, diet, and habits like thumb-sucking. We recommend a first visit around your child's first birthday, or whenever their first teeth appear.
Frequently asked questions
When should my child first see a dentist?
Around age one, or within six months of the first tooth coming in. Early visits are short and gentle, and they help us catch issues — and build comfort — long before anything hurts.
Is children's dental care covered by the CDCP?
Yes. The Canadian Dental Care Plan covers eligible children, including exams, cleanings, fluoride, and fillings. We direct-bill Sun Life so there is little or no paperwork for you.
How can I help my child feel comfortable?
Talk about the visit positively and keep it low-key. We will do the rest — showing them the tools, going slowly, and making the appointment something they can handle.
